2009, We had such high hopes for you! And you came out the gates running, running hard too! And through the middle of summer, I have to admit… you held your own! But what in the fuck happend? You certainly didn’t finish! It’s unfortunate that you’ll be remembered for how you ended it all… You’re pathetic! And all’s i can think to say is… Good Riddance… Hello 2010!
That said, even in the worst of times… there is light, there is hope, and there is acheivement. Thus I present the 2nd annual Diligent Retrospective.

So i didn’t really watch many movies this year which really disappoints me, so I won’t be posting my favorites for that category. I do have to say that the video/meme of the year has to go to keyboard cat!
That’s all for now! Happy New Years… and See you in 2010!
So I went out in the snow on Sunday and shot more footage on the 7d. I’m really liking the camera though there are some nuances that I’m learning about that complicate some things. I’ll get there… Enjoy.
Song: ‘Night Time’ by The xx
As near record snow blanketed Philadelphia Saturday, me and a few friends got together for wine and games. I figured it’d be a good time for me to take the new camera out for a spin.
I also grabbed some footage out and about the town on Sunday. I’ll try and have that up later tonight or tomorrow.
Song: ‘I Could Go’ by Oberhofer
While this isn’t a typical week it does encapsulate a lot of the things I’m involved with on an ongoing basis.
1) SAN Upgrades and Expansion (Now with 30+ TB, that’s 30,000GB… like whoa!)
2) Edit Updates, Final Cut Studio 3/Snow Leopard x 3(What a Pain in the arse!)
3) Rhozet Encoding Farm Reconfiguration (This is My Precious)
4) Closed Captioning Extraction Exploratory/Requirements Meeting
5) Begin Configuring Competitive Analysis Lab (Christmas Came Early)
6) Finalizing/Screening End of year sizzle reel. (It looks pretty damn good! Big ups to @cilantrocado. Too bad it’s confidential otherwise I’d post it!)
7) Un-boxing/Inventory of Production Equipment. (Ohhh, did I mention the Canon 7D? Whoot Whoot!)
7) National Product Launch (xfinity, yeah it’s kinda a big deal!)

“We Want War” by These New Puritans.
Directed by Daniel Askilll (Radical Media)
Released on Angular Records / Domino Records
I can’t put how I feel about this video into words… Most of the time I love to learn about the technical aspects of a production, but sometimes it’s better to leave the magic curtain intact. I really do enjoy the direction of this video, the slow motion, the human ballistics, the water explosions, the city scape in the distance… quite an interpretation of what might just be an epic war scene.
I think i’m the only person this side of the pond who actually likes this band tho… and that’s a shame. I naively proclaimed them the Breakout Band of 2008… ha, boy was I wrong! Their debut album ‘Beat Pyramid‘ was damn good too! I just don’t get it… people need to get their heads out of their arses and jump on board the TNP train. You’ll get your chance rather soon as they’re set to release their sophomore effort ‘Hidden‘ on January 18th, 2010. I’ll of course ensure that everyone knows that I ‘d been listening to them way before they blew up. Such is life!
Information Is beautiful! And this image is pretty! And its fairly balanced, tho i do have some issues with some of the labels applied.
For the most part I’m agnostic on this issue, so call me a skeptic… but don’t call me a denier! I do believe that the climate has changed, and will continue to change regardless of man’s emissions. Now that’s not to say that our actions don’t have any impact on the environment, because obviously they do! Now I’m all for efforts to remedy detrimental behaviors but not for the sake of an unproven crisis. Especially when the reality reflects an opposite trend. I’ll likely get a lot of slack for saying “unproven”, but I’ve yet to find anything convincing that indicates that the earth’s climate has been altered significantly by man’s actions.
In my final year of college I took a ’statistics’ course and a ‘greenhouse effect’ course. Call me lazy, but in an effort to consolidate final projects and kill two birds with one stone. I set out to statistically prove man made global warming. I received two A’s, one in each course for my paper; however I couldn’t prove with 90% certainty (the FDA requires certainty of 95% for pharmaceutical companies) that global warming was significantly influenced by greenhouse gas emissions. My hypothesis was wrong! Sure i found a strong correlation, however correlation is not causation. If it were so, one could just as easily claim that increases in temperatures are what’s causing the increase in greenhouse gasses.
Now I’m no geologist, meteorologist, or statistician; And i wouldn’t dare suggest that my work could survive the scrutiny of a professional scientific review, but my work did prompt me to investigate opinions counter to those that had previously influenced me. Opinions from groups and individuals with proper credentials. And the more and more information i’ve uncovered, the less and less inclined I’ve been to follow suit with “the consensus”.
What say you?
We’re living in an era of propaganda, confusion, and manipulation. We’re all over-saturated with information and its becoming more and more difficult to know what to believe in. Well, you can believe in this… “This Is Not A Conspiracy”

Two Phoenix postings in just under two days… If you couldn’t tell, I likes me some Phoenix. I also likes me some La Blogotheque and their Take Away Shows. The guys from Phoenix perform “Lisztomania” and “One Time Too Many” in the clip. “1901? and “Long Distance Call” are also available via La Blogotheque.
