2009, We had such high hopes for you! And you came out the gates running, running hard too! And through the middle of summer, I have to admit… you held your own! But what in the fuck happend? You certainly didn’t finish! It’s unfortunate that you’ll be remembered for how you ended it all… You’re pathetic! And all’s i can think to say is… Good Riddance… Hello 2010!
That said, even in the worst of times… there is light, there is hope, and there is acheivement. Thus I present the 2nd annual Diligent Retrospective.

So i didn’t really watch many movies this year which really disappoints me, so I won’t be posting my favorites for that category. I do have to say that the video/meme of the year has to go to keyboard cat!
That’s all for now! Happy New Years… and See you in 2010!
This past weekend I took the opportunity to attend the National Equality March In DC. It was a personally moving and inspiring experience that I will always hold with me. It was a sight to see! So many young people, all confident, all resolute in their cause, and all certain of their impact. For those that questioned if it would be worth it, question no more… It was! Most of those whom attended will attest to this as they witnessed a whole generation rising to the occasion; ready and willing to fight for what is right!
In the past I’ve felt that too many individuals within the LGBT community have treated Rights as privileges. They are not! Rights are NEVER to be asked for and NEVER to be negotiated! The act of asking only certifies authority to those who seek to be ‘granters’ or ‘deniers’. Rights are NOT privileges and they must ALWAYS be unapologetically DEMANDED! Not next year, Not next month, Not tomorrow, But NOW!
It’s for this reason why many, including myself, will not support the idea of seeking rights through popular vote ballot initiatives. Rights are meant to protect the minority against oppression from the majority, thus it’s a ridiculous notion to allow the majority to deem when oppression should begin and end. I hope that you’ll reject such notions too. The issue of rights and equality for the LGBT community is of importance to all Americans, of all genders, of all races, and of all religions; because the disenfranchisement of one group’s rights today signals the disenfranchisement of another’s tomorrow!

Cheers to another year! Lets make 2009 the best year ever; can we do that people? I promise to do my part if you’ll do yours. Agreed??? Good! Now lets get the jump-off jumped-off! Presenting: 10 tracks (no more, no less) of all killer, no filler audio bliss for your listening enjoyment… The Diligent Dance January Mixtape.
Ahhh 2008, what a year you were! While we shared quite a few good times together; in retrospect… I’m seeing that you were one fucked up cookie. I’ve personally observed you inspire and give hope to the masses in one breath and then turn to destroy and crush it in the next. For better or worse, there is one thing for certain, 2008 You Will Definitely Be Remembered!
That said, It’s time to move on, but first here’s my annual retrospective.
Music:
I don’t care what anyone says, i don’t care what the sales figures show, or what concert attendances indicate; 2008 was a good year for music! 2007 got us dancing again, so it makes sense that 2008 was the year of the DJ. And boy are there a lot of them! I think I know of more active DJs than of actual bands and artists. I mean seriously, for a white it seemed like there were 3-4 remixes for every song that came out. But guess what? I didn’t complain; I loved every second of it!
Other:
Now on to a few non-music related favorites.
That’s It… Bring on 2009!
